Sapa Vietnam

We arrived in Sapa on the night of September 15-16 at 2 AM after a 7-hour journey in an uncomfortable sleeper bus. The situation of the hills, still devastated by Typhoon Yagi, is visible; the roads are flooded or covered with rocks and dirt. It was night, so we could see little outside the window, but the journey was stressful. Anyway, we arrived, nice hotel, bed, sleep.

Today we had breakfast and then went with a guide to see the village of Lao Chai, a village of about 1000 people who speak their own language, Monk, if I remember correctly. There are several similar villages, all with traditional clothes and different languages. They learn Vietnamese at school, but it is not their mother tongue. They work with fabrics made from marijuana plants and dye the fabrics with indigo. It was a beautiful experience, and the guide was very nice. We bought some cushions with typical fabrics.
